Welcome To Vailankanni - The Lourdes Of The East
Vailankanni: The Lourdes of The East is a short film about the apparitions and miracles of Our Blessed Mother Mary in Vailankanni, India. The film tells the story of Vailankanni's early history as a small fishing village on the east coast of India in the mid 16th century, and the apparitions of Mother Mary, first to a poor milk delivery boy and a few years later to a lame boy selling buttermilk by the roadside. Also covered in the film are India's Christian roots that date back to St. Thomas, one of Jesus' twelve disciples, India's early Catholic history, Portuguese colonialism, and offers a glimpse of Indian Culture.
This film was first broadcast worldwide on EWTN and since then has aired on several Catholic and Christian TV channels and reviewed in many Catholic newspapers.
Our intentions from the very outset in producing this film was to let the world know about the love and devotion of millions of non Christians to Mother Mary in this most holy place.
